No one wants to deal with bed bugs in their home, but chances are sooner or later, you will deal with these pesky bugs getting into your home. It is important that you keep out for the signs that you have bed bugs. If you see any of the signs, you want to call an exterminator as soon as possible before the infestation gets severe.

1. Bug Feces

Bed bugs will leave a trail of fecal specks on your mattress or on your bedding. It looks similar to dried blood specks. You will typically find these in mattress seams as well as other cracks and crevices.

2. Red Stains On Mattress

If you have any red stains on your mattress or on your bedding, chances are these are bedbugs that have been killed. When you move around or roll over in bed, you can crush these bedbugs. This will leave a small red mark on the mattress. You may also find these in your bedding as well.

3. Sweet Aroma

Some people have reported when they have severe bedbug infestations, they smell a sweet sickly aroma near their beds. Some people have reported that it smells like rotten raspberries, or it can even be a moldy smell. This will all depend on the infestation and whether or not your nose has the ability to smell it.

4. Eggs or Molting on Bedding

Look at your bedding to see if you see any exoskeletons of the bedbugs or eggs. Bedbugs will lose their exoskeleton when they molt, and they will be left on your bedding, seams of pillows, and even on your baseboards. If you see any signs of exoskeletons or eggs, it is a good indicator that you have a bedbug infestation.

5. Suspicious Bites

When bedbugs bite you, it typically leaves bite marks that are along a trail. Typically you will have 3 to 4 bites, and they will resemble small flea bites are mosquito bites depending on how your body reacts. For some people, they will experience no symptoms and will not even notice the bites. Other people will have limited itching and swelling where the bite is. If you see bites, it is a good indicator that you have an issue with bedbugs.

If you see any issues with bedbugs, you will need to call your exterminator immediately to address the situation. Quickly getting the bedbugs eliminated will ensure that infestation does not get any worse.
