Cimex Lectularius or commonly known as the garden-varietal bed bug is the common scientific name for the small, red-colored insects found in Phoenix usually found in houses, apartments, motels, dormitories, and boats. They are most commonly known as Chinch Bugs in Spanish, or as Red Coats or red chinches de coccyx in some other places. The scientific name of this insect is Cimes Lectularius. They are also called Chinch Bugs in English, or as Coiled-tailed Chinches in French. They belong to the family of Coincideidae, a group of insects which include mosquitoes and ticks.

While there is no sure way of knowing where they would attack next, experts speculate that the bed bugs probably infest the Valley of the Sun and the surrounding areas (metro area) of the Phoenix. And the bed bugs seem to be infesting the area around the Phoenix airport and the parking lot of the Phoenix Sky Harbor. There is also a big possibility that these insects are coming from the breeding grounds of the West Nile Virus.

As far as the Phoenix pest control companies are concerned, the most important step in getting rid of the bed bugs is identifying their hiding places, i.e. under bedding and furniture, inside the houses, attics, and even the cars. The experts also suggest using heat treatment or heat paste since they have proven to be quite effective in destroying the adult insects as well as their eggs. When applying heat treatment, it is necessary to wash all bedding thoroughly in hot water, dry them completely, and keep them in a zip-lock bag to prevent them from being scattered by children or pets.
